About the Piece

The Story

​

One of the first opportunities I had to write instrumental music outside of my undergraduate degree was a little piece called "Definitions" for Woodwind Quintet. The goal, eventually, is to have 4-5 movements. As of now, however, only the first movement is completed: "Frolicking." With a very tongue-in-cheek tone, this piece states a word in each movements title, and then musically represents it. Unfortunately the work has not yet been performed, as circumstances outside of our control prevented Isaiah from premiering it with his students.
